About Mehmet

My name is Mehmet; I am a licensed tour guide and have been guiding since 1991. My University Degree is in English and my profession was to be an English Teacher, but I love being a Tour Guide instead.

It is wonderful for me to promote this lovely country, to show not only the cultural, historical and natural beauties of it but also the generous hospitality and warm friendliness of my people. Even my wife, Rachel, fell in love with the country and has since moved from Wales, UK to live here.

As your Tour Guide, I feel like an Ambassador for my country ensuring your visit to be a happy one, leaving you with delightful memories to take home.

For me a great tour is, when at the end:

• The guests are able to recall my stories and jokes with a smile on their faces.
• They feel they are leaving a friend behind and not just a guide.
• They are able to understand how Turks live and think and have a greater knowledge of the delights and passion of this country.
• They promise to see me again when they return to Turkey and we exchange addresses.

It’s not enough to stand and look at an ancient site, I like to bring to life the places we tour. You will be able to visualise chariots going down marble roads at Ephesus, ‘hear’ the applause of the crowds in the stadiums, visualise maidens in harems’ or marvel at the genius minds of the ancient people. Ect, ect, ect …..

My tour won’t be a boring history, political or geography lesson; you can read that in guide books. I will tell you things that you do not find in guidebooks, giving you full honest and clear information of old traditions, ancient history, bitter facts to captivating tales. Your tour will be relaxing and interesting, entertained by me with excerpts from daily papers, my stories and my famous jokes………… !
